Monrovia Rockhounds Field Trip

Monrovia Rockhounds has scheduled a Field Trip for 3/26/2011 to the Sierra Paloma Claim for banded onyx, Boron to take in the Boron Museum and also the Boron Mine Visitors Center (where the mine has dumped borate material for visitors to sort through).  We also plan to drive around the mine to look for colored jasper.  This is a one day trip leaving from the Escopalian Church parking lot at 8:00 am.  The Church (on the corner of Foothill and California in Monrovia) will let us use their parking lot for meeting and for car pooling  (4-wheel vehicles not necessary but high clearance is recommended).  Members should bring hats, gloves, hammers, pry bars, buckets or bags for the rocks you will collect as well as plenty of water..  Dress in layers so you will be ready for any weather.  Bring lunch and again plenty of water.  We are planning a picnic lunch in Boron.   Reminder we will be needing rock and minerals for grab bags.

Members of the Monrovia Rockhounds, Inc. have been invited to join the Pasadena Lapidary Society on their monthly field trips.  Please contact Joe Goetz, Field Trip Chairman (joenmar1@verizon.net) if you plan on going.  He can then tell you where the group is meeting, and if there will be a potluck, and any other needed information.
